"Do I have to wear the big dress to do this?"
Instead of the shiny crown, a pair of leatherbound books now balanced atop Duck's head, wobbling ever so slightly as she concentrated on staying steady. Somehow Rue had found her a dress with an even larger skirt than the one she'd shown up in--a positively huge pink-and-blue confection of lace and ribbon--and had decided that it was the perfect thing to use during a deportment lesson.
If she'd known being a princess would be so much harder than a transformation and a heart full of love, Duck thought, she probably would have asked to be a fairy godmother instead.
